The Regional Strategic Framework (RSF)
The RSF for the Central Border Region of Ireland / Northern Ireland is the first such formal initiative of this type developed for this area.
This Framework has been shaped through an 18-month long development process as part of an overall Spatial Planning Initiative. The governments of Ireland and Northern Ireland have given the Region the opportunity through this funded initiative to help set out a strategic way forward for the redevelopment of the area. This Framework is the Region’s response to helping realise the ambitions and hopes of the people in our Region, and those served by our Region.
The Vision of the Central Border Region is of:
'A sustainable region that delivers the best quality of life for its people and makes a distinctive contribution to economic and social renewal and growth on the island.'
The RSF was launched on Friday 22nd November 2013 in the Slieve Russell Hotel, Cavan by representatives of the governments of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The key addresses given at the event were made by Minister of State in the Republic of Ireland, Fergus O’Dowd T.D., along with senior officials from the Department of Environment (Northern Ireland) and the Department for Regional Development (Northern Ireland).
